Prague .... here I come .... Hopefully??

Well peeps I am going to Prague tomorrow for 5 days of Czech beer, sightseeing, Christmas Markets and ... did I mention beer??

The snow, which has plagued Central Scotland, has stopped however roads are in a hellish state that I hope we arrive at the airport without incident and on time.

I will blog when I get there with some good stories and hopefully nice pictures.

Long overdue update and blog!!

I am ashamed to have allowed my blogging to lapse again!!

Almost a month since the last blog is truly inexcusable!!

So what have I been up to of late?? Well first and foremost I have relocated back to the home of my childhood...this is mainly due to necessity as my girl is about to lose her job and thus living in our rented private flat is too expensive for us both.

I saw one of the best gigs of my life two weeks ago, Level 42 (i know..not what you would expect me to go to!!) were fantastic, playing with the intuitive ability you only gain from years and years of carving your craft they played flawlessly!!

Last week I saw The Birthday Massacre..once again they proved to be arguably one of the best live bands about right now!! The new material from Pins & Needles sat well with all the older material which adored their set-list.

Tattoo fever has gripped me again..this time only a small one hahaha. This Halloween I get a tattoo from a friend who has only recently taken up this profession and in that year and a half has shown the artistic styles of more seasoned tattooists. I am getting an Owls head with antlers on my left wrist...pics will follow.

I turned 29 on 30 September and I got wonderful presents and had a great meal with Corrinne, John & Pete.

And I think that's us up-to-date until Halloween.

The Birthday Massacre

Well one of my favourite bands have hit out hard with a new album worthy of you time.

As you may know from reading my blog page, The Birthday Massacre have been a favourite of mine for many years!! I got into them back in 2005 after hearing about them on a forum site and quickly listened to their album Nothing & Nowhere.



It mixed fantasy sounds, 80's new wave pop and nu-metal to create something very original and yet so very familiar!!



I quickly got a copy of Violet (an ep that was lengthened into an album release) and got the Blue music video dvd.



By the time Walking with Strangers hit in September 2007 I was fanatical about the group and finally got to see them live last year in Glasgow as reported in my Violet Prison 15 July 2009 blog.







With my purchase of their Show & Tell dvd at the end of last year it was only a matter of time before they released another album....and it's finally here.



Pins and Needles is the quintessential Birthday Massacre album...huge synths, 80's new wave, goth pop and fantasy sounds are all mixed into a seamless soundscape.



To top it all off I get to seem them again on 13 October 2010 at the Classic Grand in Glasgow.



If you haven't had the pleasure yet...do something about it...you wont be sorry you did!!!

Carpark North

Few things in life make me as happy as when I find a band I've never come accross before and they are just so honestly in the right place for my heart to skip a beat....with this in mind, when I came accross Carpark North and listened to 'Berlin' from their first album 'All Things to All People' I knew I had heard something a bit special.



Its clear that this Danish three piece from Århus (I place I have actually visited when auditioning for the mighty Hatesphere) are all about stadium filling rock songs with hints of new wave synths. In fact listening to them makes me feel that 30 Seconds to Mars could easily copied their newer sound right off a Carpark North album.



I love pimping things I really like to people so check them out!!

EPIC post!!

Well, seeing as I have been ultra anti-social recently in terms of blogging I have decided to push the boat out with my latest creation...MEGA-BLOG!!! :p

Basically I intend to rattle through many stories all in this one blog...so make sure you're comfy...if you need to pee...GO NOW...get a cup of tea on the way back and lets catch-up :)

Things have been all go as of late and I've been up to a bit of this and that. Both my brothers recently got married and as such me and my girlfriend have been having a blast enjoying catching up with relatives and maybe partaking in a drink or 2 :p

We recently purchased a PS3...and god how I love it...I had (in my youth) been somewhat of a gamer and of late, with the lack of a gaming console, had not been interested in that scene...until now!! The machine is only 3 weeks old and already I have completed Metal Gear Solid 4 (7/10 in my opinion), Ratchet and Clank - Tools of Destruction (7/10) twice haha, Assassins Creed 2 (8/10) and am currently battling super mutants, gouls & wastelanders in the ultra epic Fallout 3 (9/10)..it would seem this game is sooo huge and sooo epic that already 30hours into it I'm only just over a quarter through.

FALLOUT 3!!!!



Genetik Blueprint has been hard at work creating new songs, introducing two new members and taking part in photoshoots.

I have recently started work on a side endeavour called Nightscapes & Dayscrapers with a friend and have been writing synth driven alt rock songs which has proved much fun!!

Ive been to the cinema to see Inception (which i would give a 10/10) and it could be the best film I've seen in a long long time, A-team (lots of fun and a 7/10), Karate Kid (again lots of fun 7/10), Splice (didn't really float my boat 5/10), Predators (loved it 7/10) & The Sorcerer's Apprentice (6/10 not bad for what it was but a bit of a run of the mill film).



On the music front .. The new Acacia Strain album Wormwood is arguably the catchiest heavy album I've ever heard and is up there with Deftones album Diamond Eyes as potential album of the year!!



The new Soilwork album The Panic Broadcast is excellent and I'm counting down to the new Birthday Massacre album Pins & Needles as I have such a soft spot for this band.





Gigs...I'm going to see the Birthday Massacre, Crystal Castles, Level 42 & Robyn all in October...busy month!!

Finally me and my lady are going to Prague in December for a 5 day vacation...can't wait!!!

Thats right folks...my band Genetik Blueprint are finally back after a year and a half in limbo....here's a statement from the band and some updated pictures :)

After over a year in limbo the band are re-emerging from their purgatory stronger and hungrier than ever. With a new line-up, heavier groove and focused aggression, Scotland’s only Brutalcore band are getting ready to enter the studio to record their first album which promises to aurally cave your face in like the actions of a baseball bat in the hands of a rabid pack of hoodies.

How to Destroy Angels

Any one that knows me will tell you that I happen to be a huge Nine Inch Nails fan...they are my favourite band and Trent Reznor is one of my heroes!!.



This morning he proved once more why he is just head and shoulders above the competition with another over-the-top gesture to his many fans by giving away, free of charge, electronic downloads of his new band's (How to Destroy Angels) self titled ep.





And from a very biased point of view .... I think it's awesome!!



Well done Trent..can't wait to hear what you come out with next!!

Zombies in the work place!!

I really haven't got much in the way of any spark today to enjoy my usual work place routines. Not sleeping well last night didnt help to be honest and coupled with a shop alarm going off at 4.30am to 5.30am never helped!!

So im in a kinda zombified state today to be honest with little to no motivation.



So I find myself trawling blog pages and listening to music...maybe not that unlike a average working day after all!!

I have a relativly busy week ahead of me too, I have a jam session with my mate Chris tomorrow on what could be a new musical project for me to sink my teeth into. Thursday my first musical love, Genetik Blueprint (my band), are practicing and friday requires me to rest up before the uber tattoo-fest on Saturday!!

Sunday I will rest up :p

Anyway...I reckon I will probably end up posting again before the day is out!!

Oh well...May came and went without anything of any real interest to be honest...

June promises soo much more..First of the bat is my new tattoo which will be scribed on my flesh this coming Saturday 5th June :)

Its an addition to my horror sleeve and will be thee original one and only Robert Englund as our favourite knived handed anti-hero Freddy Krueger!! :)

Barthez is behind the needle again and this is the image we have chosen!! This promises to be a big piece with Barthez reckoning it could take up to an epic 7hr sitting in the chair eeeekkkkk
