Eagles of Death Metal Tonight

Thats right people...actually not a huge fan of this band but any band that can provoke an angry statement of 'school boy like' proportions from Axl Rose has two thumbs up from me.

The gig is at Glasgow's ABC so expect pictures and a small review tomorrow.

Much love to you all

OH Noh not more Tattoo's!!!

Well I finally got my Hanya Mask tattoo, thanks to Soap at Lab Monkey in Stirling City. And here it is below:

The Hanya is a Demon Noh Mask in Japanese culture and tells the legend of a very beautiful woman who becomes twisted through jealousy and is transformed into the Demon Hanya. I had planned to get this done in Tokyo last December but due to economic hardships faced by the lovely Sterling Pound against the Dollar and the Yen the costs became silly for the sake of the tattoo!! This meant I had more pennies to spend in Tokyo on Sake, Sushi & Karaoke hahaha.

Much love to you all till the next time

This week is gonna be EPIC!!!

Well well after a pretty sucky week of illness, and the general slugish return to health this week would appear to be exactly what the doctor ordered.

First off Crack the Skye is release, by the mighty MASTODON www.myspace.com/mastodon , today and to say I am excited about this album release is an understatement. Mastodon could very well be one of the most breathtaking bands to emerge in the last 10 years. Mixing prog rock elements with trippy concepts and massive sweeping audible soundscapes this album promises to be in the top 5 albums of the year!!

On Friday I will finally get my Hanya tattoo, a tattoo that has been almost a year in the planning, from Soap at Lab Monkey. I was in Stirling City on Saturday to see the design and it has made me too excited about getting my new ink.

I shall post pictures of the new tattoo on Friday night.

Anyway I hope you people are well.

Much love from the FrEaK xXx

Sick Days = Movies in Bed

Well Sunday I wasn't feeling to great and by the wee hours on Monday morning i was full blown sick!!

With all that in mind I have spent the past two days confined to my couch watching films and bad television. So with little in the way of interesting stories I thought I'd share a small film review with anyone who is interested.

First off we have Quantum of Solace, the new bond film, this film starts off pretty much exactly where Casino Royale finished with Bond on the trail of a mysterious organisation who murdered Vesper, that chick who betrayed him in Casino Royale. The action is over the top and the story line pretty poor by even Bond film standards...I'm afraid I would only give it a 5/10.
Next I watched Transporter 3. I am a fan of Transporter films as there is no need for complicated plot, no need for plot twists and turns just plain old action in the form of Jason Stratham, a transporter who delivers 'packages' on a no questions asked policy. The action is awesome with well planned martial art fight sequences and the car chases and stuns are awesome, once again the hand of Luc Besson is clear and I give this film a 7/10.
Punisher Warzone is fantastic. Having enjoyed the previous effort in the remake of this comic book series. This one is by far the most brutal and most comic book of the lot. Frank Castle is out for more vengeance against the mob bosses or New York city, this time he is up against the Jigsaw. Every scene in this film is sculpted to give the most graphic comic book gore I have seen in a while and thus it gets an 8/10.
Finally Resident Evil Degeneration, the first fully animated film in the franchise. This is made by Capcom (the company who made the Video Games) and is set right after Resident Evil 4. Its good for what it is but to be honest I preferred the video game film Final Fantasy Advent Children and I'm not over impressed by this film. It gets a 5/10.
Anyway I'm hopeful I will be back on my feet by Thursday.

GOJIRA

I got the chance to see the mighty Gojira last night at the Classic Grand in Glasgow.

This marks the third time I have witnessed this bands brand of progressive death metal in the live domain and I can assure you, as always, they cement themselves are one of thee greatest live bands of the mordern metal age.

Technically this band is a head and shoulders about the rest, basically laying waste to any band playing before or after them.
Their setlist included 'The Link's LOVE, 'Terra Incognita's CLONE, 'From Mars to Sirus's Flying Whales/BackBone/From the Sky & finally 'The Way of All Flesh's Toxic Garbage Island/Art of Dying/Vacuity.
My next gig is the Eagles of Death Metal at the ABC in Glasgow on the 31st of March...bring it on!!!

Oh well I reckon its first post time on this thing.

I am Duncan (FrEaK) McLeish, 27 years old as of last September and 28 this September 2009, I live in Falkirk which can only be described as a former Industrial hub of Central Scotland but much of that has gone and left a very grey looking town. I am a musician obessed with tattoo's, serial killers, science, japanese food and films books & music. I am front man of Genetik Blueprint www.mypsace.com/genetikblueprint and through my band I have met amazing people and had the privilage to travel to audition for Danish metal heavyweights HateSphere in 2007.

With all that out the way....time for the first blog:

So far this year I've had a blast, gig tickets bought, tattoo's booked, trips planned & finally the return of my band Genetik Blueprint.

Tomorrow myself and my amazing girlfriend Cozi are going to see one of my favourite bands ever..the mighty GOJIRA www.myspace.com/gojira at the Classic Grand in Glasgow. This promises to be one hell of a gig.

I will definetly be attending this years London Tattoo Convention to stalk more tattooists from my list hahaha. It is my birthday about the same time so I cant wait. However until then I have booked myself in for a Hanya Mask (the image at the top of the blog)tattoo from Soap at Lab Monkey Studio in Stirling on the 27th of March.

With that said, I am sure I shall be on here often and look forward to writing more exploits, rants, thoughts and adventures in the future.
Much love
