Shedding Pounds & Watching Basterds

Well I have been away from Blogger again for a week and as promised here are some updates in my life!!!

I have been hitting the gym HARD!!! Going at least once a day for the last week and doing high intensity cardio workouts including Body Combat (a mix of martial arts and aerobics) & Body Pump (a mix of weight lifting and aerobics) both of which can burn up to 700Kcals.

So far I have lost 5lbs in one week which is awesome. A mean lean Duncan is coming I promise hahaha

Last night I finally got the chance to see Inglorious Basterds.

All I can say is woaw!!! Quentin Tarantino is a god in the film industry and this film just strengthen this claim. A very funny but at times atmospheric alternative to WWII events set in France. Brad Pitt is awesome (i must say i have never been much of a fan), El Roth is well casted (director of Hostel & Hostel 2) & with small cameos from actors such as Mike Myres (Austin Powers & the voice of Shrek) I cant urge enough the need for you to go and see this film!!!

DO IT!!!!

Pushing the Envelope - Goodbye American Head Charge

I have just found out this morning that one of my favourite all time metal bands, a band that not only influenced my vocal style, my image in my first bands but gave me hours and hours of live and recorded entertainment have decided to call it a day.

There are few that could dispute that American Head Charge arrived during the Nu-Metal glory days but stood out from the pack with their varied take on thrash meets industrial metal.

Their first album, War of Art (2001), hit the ground running but line up changed and problems with their record label meant that the band would not release new music until 2005.

The Feeding (2005) showed a more mature side as the band streamlined from 7 musicians to a healthy 5. This album showed more the influence of Faith No More mixed with atmospheric industrial noises and heavy heavy riffs.

Their last release was Can't Stop the Machine (2007) a live album and dvd.

You will be missed...below is a statement regarding their split.

"This is not the kind of news I enjoy being the bearer of, but we've been ready and waiting for input from Cameron for almost two years; we've written and recorded two albums worth of material in that time," says co-founder and bassist Chad Hanks. "At this point, he no longer gives being in this band any sort of top priority, which is so sad seeing as how he has such an amazing and unique voice; I couldn't wait to hear it on these songs. However, we’re looking forward to some new blood; a young, hungry soul that doesn't sound like anyone else and is ready to work his ass off. We're more than eager to get back to the mines. This is what we do."

Much ado about nothing!!

Not much going on in my world my blogging friends...that's right, every now and again life stumbles like an old man who's cane has been snagged in a drain.

This is not to say I have done nothing...rather that what I have done has not really merited the space on my blog page.

However with a 2 week absence from this page I feel obliged to fill at least one blog with general discussion on things that have peeked my interest.

He is Legend

Their new album is nothing short of amazing, a totally refreshing grower of a album that will have you singing along loud in your shower upon the fourth listen. Bluesy, stoner laced riffs and charcoal melodies that like a shot of Jack Daniels leave you smiling from ear to ear!!!

UFC

The mighty Anderson Spider Silva domination of Forrest Griffin left me speechless. I favoured the Spider from the outset but to move up a weight class and fight a former champion with so much power not only turned my head but gave me whiplash!!

Throw into the mix a very very impressive performance by the mighty BJ Penn over Kenny Florian ... its easy to see why UFC gets bigger every event!!

Inglourious Bastards

Like a lot of movie geeks, I happen to be a massive Tarantino fan and with this his sixth feature length film I am sure he will knock out another home run. On advanced released this Wednesday, I will write a small review as soon as I have seen the splendor of his work.

Until then...I must get back to work

Much love
